As the weather gets colder the fishing gets hotter

Although we have spotted some Kings we are looking for the action to start to crank up this month. We have seen really good action with the Spanish Mackerel and along with them a mix of bluefish, ladyfish and blue runners can often be found making for some crazy good fun.

Spanish mackerel, from the one to four pound range, are smaller cousins of the king mackerel and should be pretty thick along the nearshore and bay waters this month with the best action usually near Big Pass and New Pass.

Reel addiction has also been running into some nice shark action as we bounce around Sarasota inshore and nearshore waters. We will also see gags and reds moving into more shallow spots and ledges in less than 60 feet of water. Sometimes the best gag action of the day happens within sight of the beach.

As you can see by the photos, we have also been seeing our share of Sea Trout and Flounder to round out our day.

We look forward to seeing the winter sheepshead action come alive and they should be appearing in the canals and around docks in numbers. This winter fishery will get hotter the weather gets cooler for sure.

We would like to thank those of you have been booking your holiday, winter and even spring 2021 fishing trips and we look forward to seeing you again soon. For those of you who haven’t picked your fishing dates yet, give us a call at (941) 650-9788 so we can plan a great day on the water for you.

And remember, it doesn’t have to always be 100% about the fishing. We can offer a great mix of tight lines and sandy toes too with diversions between casts to include stops at some of the local’s favorite sand bars, scenic views and wildlife spots too. Just let us know what you want to do. We can plan a great day on the water for every type of water enthusiast in your group.
